I've been kinda stressed over the past few days. Stressed, sore, cranky. Tuesday has so far been the bright spot...and a nice bright spot it was, too.
But today I looked at the calendar and...one year ago on May 9th an old friend of mine died suddenly in his sleep.
Nothing like a memory like that to put everything in perspective. I knew it was coming...last week I stopped by the cemetery and visited his grave...but seeing the date on the calendar is still strangely emotional.
He was one of the good ones.
Here's to you, Nick...thank you for being so wonderful. You deserved better.
*raises a glass*

WHAT?!
(CNN) — In what appear to be the New York senator's most blunt comments to date regarding a racial division in the Democratic presidential race, Hillary Clinton suggested Wednesday that "White Americans" are increasingly turning away from Barack Obama’s candidacy. "I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," Clinton said in an interview with USA TODAY. Clinton cited an Associated Press poll "that found how Senator Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me." "There's a pattern emerging here," she said. STORY CONTINUESI'm really not comfortable with the way this is phrased, and would call out any politician I even vaguely agreed with if they spoke like this. EDIT: I'd REALLY like to know how you feel about this comment. Do you agree, disagree, feel it was something that's true that nobody would say but her? PLEASE don't keep your opinion to yourself just because you think I or others might disagree. ALL OF YOU HAD BETTER KEEP IT FUCKING CIVIL, though. I get tired of freezing / deleting name-calling, et cetera.

he who lay astride the grass and waited
this one was a secret cove hidden deep in the bell curve
spinning out of control a spiral descent to a hammer's end death knell
quake for verse and a spine to hold it a spine to feel it quake him
buckling under foot reminds him to sit back down on the grass
the load's too heavy for this one
and now he's gone a meal for worms a worm himself
soul pocket surfer cruising wet soil into crevices untouched and still dying
he is dead and alive and still in the grass either way
and i watch down from my fake cloud and i love him
sitting there astride the grass his shirt undone his chest heaving
i feel him not though i feel him breathing

Hey,
Okay, first of all, if you didn't see Von's post of yesterday about his upcoming art show (!!!), please go and have a look at it now: http://vonandmoggy.livejournal.com/357520.html.
Secondly...hi! I was just scrolling through recent posts and it looks like Von's been holding down the fort lately. How peculiar, he's usually such a posting slacker. *ducks*
Anyways, I stayed home yesterday and spent a lovely morning/early afternoon wandering around with Von in the nice spring weather, having breakfast decadently late at a nearby diner, taking wonderful drugs that I can't normally take during the day cuz they make me stupid(er than usual)...and then painting the side balcony.
That's right, I was painting under the influence! *insert crazed laughter here*
Hey, it was fun.
It was a gorgeous day for it...sunny but with a breeze and not too warm. And as you can tell by this picture, the deck needed a good painting. It didn't survive the winter very well:

The rest I'll put under a cut so I don't crash your friends' page...
What to paint next? *thinks of the dull white bedroom walls...and starts plotting*

If I'd been eating a cheese sandwich, I would have shot cheese sandwich out my nose when I first saw the "ITEM!"-obsessed Martin " worldofagwu" Hand's Legion of Super Potatoes:
UNRELATED: Dave Sim wants you to tell Dave Sim that he's not a misogynist if you want to talk to Dave Sim.

Today was one of those days when I really didn't want to go to work, especially because of the lack of Japanese classes. Then, it so happened that the kids had an exam in the conference room down the hall.
Just watching them shuffle to my desk, going, "We're going to DIE," brightened the day. ... not the death by exam part, the seeing those lovely faces bit. |D;;
( Arashi no Shukudaikun #82! SO MUCH LOVE. )
( Bonus: Jun's appearance on 99PLUS -- surfing, golfing, Aiba, Arashi, even mentions of TOKIO + Veoh link )

Hallelujah, amen.
Someday, I'll miss the feeling of being overwhelmed and pressured with schoolwork.....
